Participating in the No Kings March 10/18

Dear Members of the CAPC Faith in the Public Square Group, 

As most of you are probably aware, in just over two weeks, on Saturday October 18th, thousands will again take to the streets to peacefully remind the Trump administration that we are strong, we are loud, and we will not allow them to turn our beloved democracy into a dictatorship. 

As we watch President Trump continue to deploy masked federal agents on American soil, as we watch him threaten mass federal firings to jam up systems already teetering on the edge, as we watch him continue to callously revel in having ripped away health coverage from millions of Americans, it is clear  that No Kings Day could not come at a more important moment!

Currently there are over 2,100 events planned for October 18th, already surpassing the last event in June. Visit NoKings.org to see where all events are planned. There are many different locations planned at different times around the Bay Area including Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley and others. If you prefer a smaller crowd, check other locations. (For instance, in Hayward, the event will take place at Hayward City Hall from 11:00 am-1:00 pm)

For those who would like to attend as a group, we will again have a group from CAP going to the Oakland event. Please contact Ann Iversen email i f you would like to meet up at the beginning of the event. Please be aware that the location of the rally is different than the event this past June, finishing at  Lake Merritt rather than downtown. 

Event schedule is as follows:
11:30 Our group  will meet up outside the Lake Merritt Bart Station. Then walk to Wilma Chan Park
12:00 Gather at Wilma Chan Park, 810 Jackson Street
12:30 March to Lake Merritt Amphitheater

There are many ways to express our dissent and resistance to the actions of the current administration. All are important. This is one way we can express our dissent together. Hope to see you there!

PS: With Covid on the rise and flu season approaching, it may be a good idea to get those vaccinations prior to October  18th!!–
