Psalm 23
One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 23. It maps out life with God. The first stanza reminds us that we are always being looked after- even to the point of the Shepherd “making” us rest by still waters. We are fed; we are led; and we should rest. The Shepherd is always there caring for us. Those are the good times, But also, the Shepherd is with us through the dark valleys in life, especially when we cannot feel or experience His presence – friends, family, places become His rod and staff that we can lean on in hard times.
At the end of the long, dark valleys, we are promised overflowing joy. What a promise to help us through the valleys! Light at the end of the tunnel! And finally, “Goodness and mercy will follow us all our life and we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever”. Amen!
