Favorite Scripture:
“The virgin will be with child and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel.” Matthew 1:23
I love this verse because when it first was written in Isaiah 7:14, it promised that God would come to Earth in human flesh . In the prophecy’s fulfillment, when Jesus dwelt in Israel, he lived as God in human flesh. Those who shared meals with Him, heard Him speak, walked along dirt roads with Him, or were healed by Him experienced the living, breathing, fleshly presence of God.
And today we can still know “God with us” through Scriptures, the Holy Spirit, the church, and through the unspeakable, undefinable mystery of our faith. How blessed we are to call His name Immanuel.
