Faith In Action : Undocumented Youth

Advocate on Behalf of Undocumented Youth arriving in Oakland, looking for a future

an invitation to Christian action from Rev. Pablo Morataya,

Pastor of Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana Hispana

Brothers and sisters,

I hope you are experiencing the blessings of the Lord in your lives and in the arduous work you are doing.

I would like to share with you that the coalition of unaccompanied Children has learned that the city of Oakland is not including any single dollar in its 2016-16 budget to continue providing free legal assistance to children and families who have recently arrived and keep coming to our city. For this reason, we ask for your support in order to be present the days of the hearings to discuss the budget. The first hearing will be on Monday, June 22 at 5 pm and the second on 29th (both hearings will be at Oakland’s City Hall). Your presence and the presence of your congregations/organizations/groups will be key to put pressure on the Financial Committee and eventually to be included in the budget. We will be looking forward to see you on those days.

Blessings!

PP
