ART, POETRY AND MUSIC SHOW SATURDAY, 11/12 5:00-9:00PM AT CAPC

Local Art Matters Header Small
For the past month we’ve had artwork up in the sanctuary created for the most party by local Oakland resident and artist Caroline Stern.  Caroline’s family goes to the same elementary school as the McClain’s, which is were they met and began talking about public art in Rockridge and Oakland.

We’re showing her art, inviting the public into our space to celebrate art this weekend – Saturday, November 9that from 5-9pm.  Caroline and her collaborators are organizing and facilitating this fun night of art in collaboration with Monte and the larger church.  If you have questions you should address them to Monte

This event is KID Friendly and FREE!
Below are some informational introductions to the artists – poetic and musical – who’ll be contributing to this presentation of visual art.
Special Guest Poet at 6:30 Susan Kolodny

James Swinson and Tania Fardella first met at an open mic at the Starry Plough in Berkeley, CA in 1997, and began playing music together as “The Wildflowers” in late 1998. They’ve spent years honing their sound: a unique blend of double rhythm guitar/vocal harmony in the indie rock/powerpop traditions. Drawing comparisons to such diverse bands such as X, The Replacements, and The Byrds, they formed “Rockinghorse” in 2002, playing original songs written by Swinson.
2010 marked the debut of Chris “CB” Bryant of Garageland Rodeo and formerly of SF indie band Wild for Kate on lead guitar. Bassist Greg Novak, formerly of Speedwell, The Formers, The Exotic Fish and Punk Rock cover band So What! joined Rockinghorse in 2012.
