Friday Night Meals
Friday Night Meal Ministry
Feeding the hungry
We serve dinner each and every Friday from 6-7:00pm for 85 people. We do this in partnership with several locals schools and associations (
Aurora School,
North Oakland Community Charter School and Oakland Rotary Club). We also often receive significant donations from local merchants and residents through Rockridge.
In our efforts to feed the physically hungry we’ve discovered the great spiritual and civic hunger that exists in our city as well. Many of us don’t have to worry about dinner or a warm, dry place to sleep at night; but we do have a hunger to respond to the needs of our city and community with our time, money and skills. Civic engagement, or what we call missional living in Christian-talk, is also a hunger that can be fed through service of our neighbors.
You can help by being part of a prep/cooking team and/or with set-up and take-down. The Ministry Team has elected 3 co-leaders: Louise Hirschman, Albert Hussian & Stewart Washington. If you would like to volunteer or get involved you can contact them via the new FNM Ministry official email:
CAPCFridaynightmeal@gmail.com
The Meal Ministry also needs financial gifts. Each meal costs between $200-$300 to host. Every dollar that you give to the Friday Night Meals go exactly to feeding the hungry, both homeless and homed, each and every Friday Night. Plus – your donation is tax-deductible.
